Winton L. Johnson, 77, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at MCG Hospital in Augusta from injuries received in an auto accident.
He was born in Emanuel County, the retired owner and operator of Hendley Transfer Co., and member of the Elam Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Winton L. Johnson, Jr., Jay Grady Johnson, and granddaughter, Amanda Gay Johnson.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, at the Elam Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn J. (Wayne) Fields; 3 sons, Tracy (Karen) Johnson, Lee (Lynde) Johnson, and John Alex Johnson all of Millen; 14 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Active Pallbearers will be grandsons, Steven Fields, Shane Fields, C. J. Chance, Justin Johnson, Jason Johnson, Cody Johnson, Tyler Collins, and Johnathon Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Knight, Phil Lanier, Paul Moore, Bobby Jones, Freddie Deal, Dale Wiggins, Reggie Beasley, and Nick Johnson.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
