Mr. William Robert Gunn, 94, left behind his earthly life, to live forever with his Heavenly Father, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. He was born in Millen, Georgia, on December 8, 1930, to John and Marie Wacker Gunn.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Gay Gunn; son, Jeff Gunn; grandson, Robert Paul Gunn; his parents; brother, George Wacker Gunn; sister in law, June Gunn; sister in law, Sallie Gunn. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Gunn Young; brother, Dudley Gunn; son Robert (Teresa) Gunn; daughter, Lucy (Patrick) Boykin; grandchildren, Will (Brooke) Bowers; Rebekah Wasden; Gabbi Gunn; Nathan (Ashley) Brown; great-grandchildren, Lane and Layla Bowers; Mark and William Wasden; Clayton Owens; Grady Gunn; Dustin (Emilee) Brown and Mallory Kate Brown.

William was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed by the Georgia Department of Transportation, until his retirement, as the Tennille District Safety Officer. He received the Commissioner's Meritorious Service Award for the Tennille District.  If anyone had problems with addictions, he was the first to volunteer to take them to treatment centers.

He was an active member of the Millen Baptist Church until declining health prevented him from attending.  He served for many years as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.  He was a man of great faith in the Lord, and a lifelong student of the Bible.  His favorite book was the book of Revelation, and he urged everyone to be prepared for the end times and the return of Jesus Christ.  He  diligently taught his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the Bible and how to pray.  Along with his wife, Joyce, he participated in Lay Witness missions throughout the state of Georgia.

William had many hobbies and talents.  He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, planting all kinds of trees and porch-sitting with family and friends.  He was a great calligrapher and penned numerous wedding invitations and many other documents.  An avid Georgia Bulldog fan, he passed on the legacy and passion to his family.  He was a delightful and witty story teller loved by kids and adults alike.

He had a special bond with his five grandchildren.  William, created a secret hand sign with them, that when given, perplexed all of the adults.  He made up unique games and stories with the children that they will remember and cherish forever.  That same great love was extended to his eight great grandchildren.

What is remembered the most is William's love of family and devotion to God.  No one ever left without a big warm hug.  William's greatest desire and prayer was the salvation of his family and spending eternity in Heaven together.

Funeral services will be held at the Millen Baptist Church on Saturday, January 25, 2025.  Visitation will be at 10:00 AM and the service will be at 11:00 AM.  A graveside service will be immediately following at the Millen Cemetery.  Rev. Brad Asbury and Dr. Cliff Morris will officiate.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, great grandsons and a great nephew, Jackson Calvin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Leroy Clayton, Tim Fields, Tommy Lane, Tyler Mahan, Robert Oglesby, Buddy Rabitsch, Stewart Rackley, King Rocker, Tommy Taylor, Stanley Thompson,Toby Wallace and George Wasden.
