Mr. William Dee "Bill" Matthews, age 70, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at Optim Medical Center.

He was born in Ft. Bragg, NC, veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard, a retired shipper/loader for Container Corporation of America, a Gideon, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Revs. Jamie Archer and Wayne Bray officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Stacey Murphy Matthews; a son, William Dee (Sherry) Matthews Jr. of Beaufort, NC; a daughter, Gina Lauren (Bill) Strickland of Beaufort, NC; 3 sisters, Shirley Roireau of Escondido, CA, Kathy Rowe of Beaufort, NC, and Carolyn Sims of Vancouver, WA; 2 step-sisters, Lois Ezell of Chesnee, SC and Nancy Chase of Cove City, NC.; and a brother, Jimmy Matthews of Port Arthur, LA.
Pallbearers will be Deacons of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Oak Hill Baptist Church or the Wounded Warrior Program.

Visitation will be 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
