Virginia Johnson Weatherford, beloved wife of Joel Weatherford, transitioned to her heavenly home on April 19th, 2024 while surrounded by her family.

Virginia was born to Virgil and Dicey Johnson on December 18th, 1940 in Jenkins County. The youngest of 7 children, she was surrounded by family from the very beginning.

In January of 1961, Virginia married the love of her life Joel Weatherford in a beautiful ceremony in Aiken, SC.  Virginia was a devoted wife for 63 years.  The love shared between Virginia and Joel was everlasting, forever and always.

Virginia embodied the best of qualities: a loving, selfless woman with an amazing sense of humor and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for family and loved ones.  She accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, and a perpetual smile.

Virginia was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family with all of her heart and set an example for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.  Virginia was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others.  She was a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, her friends, and the world at large.  She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.

Virginia lived a life of unconditional love and had an uncanny strength of spirit.  She was resilient, beautiful, trustworthy, energetic, feisty, and sometimes goofy woman who was full of energy, love, and life.  She had a smile that lit up every room she entered. Her light hearted demeanor combined with her soulful love allowed all who met her to instantly feel at home and in the presence of God.

Together, Virginia and Joel raised three beautiful children, Kerri (Kent), Gina, and Jay (Crystal) who were her pride and joy.  Virginia's family grew to include grandchildren Joel Britton (Caroline), Jaxson Cales, Annie Brasseaux, Les Harbin, Brittany Weatherford, Haley Weatherford, Austin Herrmann (Abby), JB Weatherford, and great-grandchildren Josie Britton, Riley Jeselnik and Jaxson Cales Jr. who all were witness to her unwavering love, unending generosity and commitment to family.

She will be forever missed.
