Obituary

Mr. Virgil "Shorty" Fries, age 88, entered into rest Friday, August 12, 2022 at Pruitt Bethany surrounded by his family after a long illness.

He was born in Screven County and a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church He was a loving husband and father of his family and a foster father to numerous children.

He was also a retired cutter for Jockey International, clerk at BiLo grocers, fire fighter for Millen Jenkins County Fire Department, bus driver for Jenkins County Spartans and was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Dorothy Fries and daughter, Dianne Havle, brothers, Jerry Friese, Henry Friese, Harold Friese and Jimmy "Happy" Friese, and sister, Mary Lucy Friese Nicholson.

Family requests that you respect their privacy during this time.

Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Millen Cemetery with Rev. Andy Allen officiating. Visitation will be after the service at the grave.

Survivors include his son, Talmadge Fries of Millen; two daughters, Wendy Fries of Millen and Patricia Tharpe of Pikeville, KY  and grandchildren, Candice Hillis (Clay) and Christian Waters, all of Millen,  and D.J. Jenkins (Amber) of Kirbyville, TX and Eleni Radford and Michaele Fries and a great granddaughter, Oakley Hillis. two brothers, Ed Friese of Sylvania and Tom Friese of Jesup and a fur baby, Ringo.
