Velma Saxon Joyner, 88, of Millen, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2025. She was born in Jenkins County, a retired Chief Payroll Clerk for the City of Augusta, and a devoted member of Green Fork Baptist Church.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She cherished her family and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed fishing, crabbing, camping at the beach, crocheting, and reminiscing about past memories with family and friends. She brought joy to others with her laughter and kind spirit.

She is survived by her five children: Debra J. Johnson (Jimmy) of Sylvania, GA; George W. "Bubba" Joyner of Beech Island, SC; Lynn J. Bowers of Perkins, GA; Don Joyner (Chris) of Martinez, GA; and Kathy Parker (Bobby) of Lincolnton, GA. She is also survived by her sisters: Jackie Heath of Montmorenci, SC; her twin sister, Thelma Jeselnik (Phil) of Dunlap, TN; and Faye Skinner (Jerry) of Augusta, GA.

She leaves behind seventeen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty years, George Willard Joyner Sr.; her parents, Joe and Floy Saxon; her sister, Doris Rhodes; her son-in-law, Mark Bowers; and her daughter-in-law, Beth Joyner.

Funeral services will be held at Green Fork Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 25, at 2:00 PM, with her grandson, Reverend Robert J. Parker Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, with honorary pallbearers being her great-grandsons.
