Tommy Donald
Pulliam
Apr 10, 1938 — Nov 6, 2023
Millen
Tommy Donald Pulliam, age 85 of Millen, GA, passed from this life into the presence of his Lord on November 6, 2023. He was born in Emanuel County on April 10, 1938 to A.C. and Melba (Lundy) Pulliam. He grew up in Mitchell, GA in Glascock County. He was one of nine children and cherished close relationships with his brothers and sisters.
In his early adult years Tommy worked as an accountant. He served in the United States Air Force reserves for seven years. In 1973 his life, and the life of his family, changed when Tommy answered God's call on his life to become a pastor. Over nearly fifty years of pastoral ministry, he served as pastor of the following Baptist churches: Magnolia, Gibson, GA; Pinehurst Drive, Dublin, GA; Hilltop, Shawnee, OK; Old Union, Young Harris, GA; Oak Hill, Millen, GA; Walker, Monroe, GA; Bethlehem, East Dublin; Hillcrest, Swainsboro; Rosemary, Millen; Mt. Olivet, Garfield, GA. During his ministry, "Preacher Tommy" preached hundreds of sermons, sat for countless hours in hospitals with the sick, counseled those who were in need, and most importantly, led many to a personal relationship with Jesus.
Whether you knew him as Tommy, Daddy, Granddaddy, Uncle Tommy or Preacher Tommy, you knew a man who loved deeply. You knew a man with a wonderful sense of humor who loved to laugh and loved to pester and joke with you. He will be missed by all of us, but we are so thankful that he is now with his Savior having heard, "Well done"!
Tommy married the love of his life, Juanita (Burch), on February 10, 1961, and enjoyed 62 years of life together.
We will celebrate his life on Friday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m. at Millen Baptist Church with Revs. Brad Asbury and Ken Bennett officiating and Rev. Tim Fields and Rodney Becton at the grave. Visitation will be before the service from 12:00-2:00.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Juanita Burch Pulliam. Tommy and Juanita were blessed with three children: Melba Lane (Quinnie) of Millen; Jeff Pulliam (Karla) of Clermont, GA; Michele Pulliam (Ginette Cote) of Millen; 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Frances Tillman of Gibson and Brother, Earl Pulliam of Palmetto.
Active Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Eight O'/clock Coffee Club, Johnny Becton, Jr., Dave Waters, Patrick Boykin, Joe Sasser, and Charlie Lanier.
