Thomas "Tom" Burke, 58, passed away on July 29, 2026, in San Diego, California, after suffering a stroke. He was born on May 29, 1968, in Orlando, Florida.
Tom married Wendy Burke on August 10, 1991, and together they shared nearly 35 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Church Burke; his children, Amber Burke Florence and her husband Brian Florence; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Alonzo of Millen, Georgia, Clara Burke and her partner, Arielle Kahana, Clayton Burke and his wife, Courtney Wallburger Burke and Caleb Burke.
Tom graduated from Jenkins County High School in Millen, Georgia, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Central Florida. Throughout his career, he worked in information technology, including positions with Walt Disney World, Dotplanet.com, Turnkey Technology, Crestwood Behavioral Health, and Robert Half Technology. Earlier in life, he proudly served as a certified firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician in Florida and Georgia.
Tom lived in Florida, Georgia, and California over the course of his life. He was active in his church, volunteered with the Boy Scouts and the Rotary Club, and believed in giving back to his community.
In his later years, Tom faced significant
health challenges. He will be remembered for his intelligence, kind heart, willingness to help others, and the love he had for his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Rosemary Baptist Church in Millen, Georgia. A graveside committal service will follow at the church cemetery, where Tom will be laid to rest alongside his mother and sister. Family and friends are warmly invited to remain after the service for food and fellowship as they gather to celebrate Tom's life and share memories together in the fellowship hall.
