Obituary

Steven Tripp Sharpe, age 31, born March 24, 1990, in Clarkesville, Georgia passed away

Sunday, May 9, 2021, at home.

Steven was the son of Shelly Ann Sharpe of Waynesboro, and Scotty Sikes of Millen. He was the maternal grandson of Richard T. Sharpe of Millen; and the late Alice Sherman Sharpe. He was paternal grandson of the late Johnny Mack Sikes; and Elizabeth Hilderbrandt Sikes who resides in Millen.  He was preceded in death by his Great-grandparents the late Morgan T. and Joanne Cowart Sharpe, Ann Anderson Sherman Franklin and Gardiner Sherman Jr.

Steven became a member of the Millen community at the age of ten, when he came to live with his great-aunt, Brenda. Over the next 21 years he lived with her and his great-grandparents, Morgan and Joanne (Papa and Grammy). Steven was a quiet, well-behaved child and a person of few words. He had a keen sense of humor and could be a real entertainer.

Steven was a 2009 graduate of Jenkins County High School. He was a member of Millen Baptist Church where he was an active RA, Sunday School member, and was active in Millen Baptist Student Ministries. He was also a part of Millen Make a Difference Ministry.

Steven loved music, movies, clothes, and cooking. He was a very creative cook who refused to use a recipe. He dreamed of opening his own restaurant, hiring and giving jobs to many people. To be a part of Steven's life was a great blessing. Everyone who knew him described him as "polite and respectful", well-mannered. He was sweet and had a good heart; never wanted to see anyone hurt. Steven showed these traits by the love and care shown to his grandmother during her last year.

Steven recently began a new job working for a man who believed in him. This man gave him what he needed - a chance to prove himself and the gift of believing in himself. He gave Steven hope for a future of success. Steve Thompson saw something in Steven that others did not. Steve Thompson opened up a whole new world to him. The two Steves quickly bonded.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm at the funeral home.

Steven is survived by his parents, a sister Brittany Paige Sharpe of McBean, and a brother Cayden Jordan Jones of Waynesboro; four uncles, five aunts, and several nieces and nephews. His many cousins include Cody and Cale Birdwell, who were more like his brothers. Lisa Birdwell and Brenda Sharpe were special great-aunts who played very important roles in Steven's life.
