Shirley Joyner
Johnson
Mar 12, 1945 — Oct 3, 2024
Millen
Shirley Ann Johnson crossed over to see the Lord Jesus and her loved ones in heaven on October 3, 2024. She was born in Millen, GA on March 12, 1945 to her late parents Ezra and Susie Brinson Joyner. She was a lifelong farmer's wife, retired paraprofessional from the Jenkins County School System, and a country store owner-S & S Grocery (Susie and Shirley Grocery), as well as, a dedicated member of Deep Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jesse M. Johnson, her son Randy, (Jesse Randall Johnson), daughter in law, Heidi Johnson, and granddaughter, Mallory O. Johnson.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie (Racheal) Johnson of Millen. She will be loved and remembered by her grandsons: Blake, Kade, and Marcus (Kacey) Johnson. Great grandchildren include Bentley, Sophie and Cason Johnson. Her much beloved niece, Amy Joyner.
S & S grocery on Old Savannah was more than just groceries or tackle, but a lifestyle for Shirley and her family. She cooked from scratch a meal for the Johnson farm every weekend to be served and enjoyed through fellowship and friendship. If you needed a quick stop, her store was probably not your first choice, seeing Shirley meant grabbing a chair and talking for an hour. Shirley showed her love for her family and friends by cooking "chewy" cake each Christmas, serving her grandkids their favorite dessert for their birthday, and some say, "awarded the best cornbread in the county."
