Shelvy Jean
Ivey
Jun 30, 1938 — May 13, 2026
Waynesboro
Mrs. Shelvy Jean Ivey, 87, of Waynesboro, entered into eternal rest on May 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Jean was a woman of unwavering faith, a nurturing spirit, and a heart that touched countless lives. She devoted many years to serving as a school teacher, where her compassion and love for children left a lasting impact on generations of students. She was also a faithful member of Burkehaven Chapel, where she faithfully played the piano for many years. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she served others with kindness, grace, and humility.
More than anything, Jean treasured her family who was the center of her world. She was known for her nurturing heart, compassionate spirit, strength, and gentle kindness. She also enjoyed one of her favorite pastimes — cutting grass — something that brought her simple joy and peace.
She is survived by her loving sons, Ricky Ivey (Reta), Terry Ivey (Judy), and Juan Ivey (Amber); her cherished grandchildren, Chad Ivey (Bonnie), Adam Ivey, Heather Sims (Deon), Justin Ivey, Brett Ivey (Taylor), Ashley Ivey, and Nikki Boutwell (Kasey); 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 51 years, Harris Laverne Ivey; her parents, Alex and Minnie Lou Jenkins; her siblings, Pat Baxley and Louis Edward Jenkins and her grandson, Victor Ivey.
Though her family's hearts are heavy with loss, they rejoice in knowing that she is now reunited with her loved ones in Heaven and resting peacefully in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, love, compassion, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, May 18, 2026 at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 2:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Christian Academy, 726 Georgia Hwy 24, Waynesboro, GA 30830.
