Shannon Estelle Franklin Ward, 70, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Optim Medical Center in Millen.

She was born in Birmingham, AL, was a retired media specialist for the Jenkins County Board of Education, and a member of Millen United Methodist Church.

Shannon loved the children that she served in the Media Centers of the Jenkins County Schools. Reading to them was one of the great joys of her life. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed her many friends.

Special thanks go out to the staff of Pruitt-Bethany for keeping her comfortable during the past year.

Memorial services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a. m. at the Millen United Methodist Church with Rev. George Durham officiating.

Survivors include her daughter, Laura Shannon (Chris) Withers of Perkins; 2 sons, Rhesa Hubert Reeves IV of Perkins, Wade Thomas (Wendy) Ward of Millen; and 6 grandchildren, Rhesa Hubert Reeves V, Sean Simeon Reeves, Abby Hunter, Elsa Isabelle Withers, Mary Inga Withers, and John Wesley Clary Ward.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
