Sally Ann Kirkland Thompson, aged 70, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, following a surgery with complications.

Sally was born on November 25, 1955 to Faye Audrey, Sr. and Annie Laura Thigpen Kirkland in Statesboro, Georgia. She was raised in Millen the majority of her childhood with her parents and three brothers.

Sally was a longtime employee and Supervisor of Jockey International, and upon retirement, she assisted her daughter, Krystal, at her restaurant. Thereafter, Sally opened her home as a daycare to many children that she loved like her own.

Sally enjoyed spending time with all of her children and grandchildren that she loved so much!  She also enjoyed frequent trips to the mountains with her best friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Faye Audrey, Sr. and Annie Laura Kirkland; her brothers Faye Jr. (Kirk) and Kenneth Kirkland; and her husband, Larry Thompson. She is survived by her brother, Sebie Kirkland; her children, Eddie Williams (Anslea), Krystal Chance (Midge), and Keri Willis (Justin); her grandchildren Whitley Logue (Matt) and Harley Purvis; and a brand new great-granddaughter, Tillman Lane Logue (Tilly). She is also survived by her best friends Becky Roundtree, Bernice Riles, Shirley Taylor, and David Thompson, along with many special nieces and nephews and all of the "babies" that she cared for.

The family will gather to celebrate her life on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Visitation will be held at 2:00 pm at Elam Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm. Pastor Jeremy Lindsey will officiate. Burial will be at Paynes Chapel Cemetery immediately following the service.

Pallbearers will be John Forehand, Jason Oglesby, Don Oglesby, Eric Proctor, Jake Knight, John Hamby, Taylor Brinson, Edwin Cates and Wes Lee.
