Ruth Kent Miller of Millen passed away September 21, 2020 at the age of 91 in her daughter's home in Saint Simons Island, Georgia. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to many; her fierce independence, sharp mind, and generous spirit inspired all who knew her. She was born in 1929, the youngest of eight siblings, and passed surrounded by her loving family.

She worked for many years at Jockey International and then after retirement worked for a time at Daniel's Cleaners in Millen, GA. Ruth was an active member of the Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church until her health prevented her from attending services. She was a prolific cook and caterer and later in life she found great joy in gardening and tending to her plants. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading devotionals, and challenging her mind with puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Miller, Jr in 1993 and her daughter, Cindy Miller Sayre in 2017.

She is survived by her daughter, Jenny (Phil) Scott of Saint Simons Island, grandchildren Julie Johnson of Metter, Jason Fleming of Swainsboro, Morgan Scott of Saint Simons Island, Jordan (Dimitri) Scott of Lexington, SC, Ashley Scott of Hinesville, and great-grandchildren Kylie, Kason, Kinley and Archer.

Graveside services will be on Thursday September 24 ^th , 2020 at the Paynez Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Perry Hearn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors' choice.
