Rudolph Becton, 89, passed away peacefully Friday, November 17, 2023 with his wife and loved ones by his side, at Piedmont Augusta Hospital.

He was born in Jenkins County on September 5, 1934 to the late Arthur and Alice Cowart Becton.

He attended the Jenkins County Schools, accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Big Horse Creek Baptist Church. Rudolph was the owner operator of Millen Gulf Service Station until he retired in 1997. He enjoyed tending his large garden which he shared with his friends. He enjoyed anything outdoors. He was an avid Dove hunter and shared his skills with many of his nephews.

In July of 1961 he married the love of his life Jeannette Thompson Becton. During their 62 years together they faithfully served the Lord at Big Horse Creek Baptist Church, until 1996, then they became members of West Millen Baptist Church.  He was active in many functions of the church including the Men's Sunday School Class.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Becton, James Becton, Johnny Becton Sr., Otis Becton, Irene Becton, Minnie B. Sherrod, Doris Young, Ruth Williams, Pearl B. Myers, and Jean Skinner.

Graveside service will be 3:30 pm Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Millen Cemetery with Rev. Andy Allen and Rev. Rudine Becton officiating. Visitation will be after the service.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jeannette Thompson Becton and brother, Rudine Becton (Sandy) of Millen; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Becton, and Jill Becton and brother-in-law Roscoe Young and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the West Millen Adult Sunday School Class.
