Mr. Roy Calvin Harris, Sr., age 83, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Ogeechee Hospice in Statesboro.
He was born in Jenkins County, a U. S. Army veteran, an accomplished peanut producer, had been a past Farmer of the Year, member of the North Jenkins County Fire Department, he was also member of Millen United Methodist Church where he attended the Beulah Garner Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Elliot Harris and son, Roy Calvin Harris, Jr.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home with funeral services at 11:00 am Tuesday at Millen United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Pettis officiating. Burial will follow in the Millen Cemetery.
Survivors include his 2 sons, Thomas Ernie (Carol) Harris of Snellville and Stephen (Misty) Harris of Millen; his two brothers, Edison (Sara Helen) Harris of Millen and John Raiford Harris of Raleigh, NC; and 3 grandchildren, Calvin Harris, Case Harris, and Avery Claire Harris.
Active Pallbearers will be Don Burke, Thurmon Kent, Donald Wayne Nesmith, Calvin Harris, Richard Pylant, Mark Taylor, Tommy Taylor, and Donnie Saxon.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Beulah Garner Sunday School Class.
