Mrs. Rose Mary Brinson Mays, age 91, entered into rest on Sunday, May 12 at her residence with her family at her side.

Rose was born in Sylvania, GA on February 27, 1933 to Otis W. and Annie Laurie Smith Brinson. Rose was a graduate of Screven County High School. After graduating, she moved to Washington, DC and worked with the FBI. During that time, she became engaged to Joe Miller Mays, Jr. then moved back to Georgia and married. Joe Miller was the love of her life, They were married for 54 years before his death in 2006. They were blessed with four children. She was a member of Dry Branch Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, was a choir member and served on numerous committees. She provided fresh flowers for the church. Services for many years. The flowers all came from her beloved gardens and flower beds.

Rose will always be remembered for her generosity and sweet spirit.

In addition to her husband, and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Juel B. Waters, Coree J. Brinson, Gibb O. Brinson and Caroline B. Clifton.

Visitation will be at Dry Branch Baptist Church Saturday, May 18, from 12:30 pm until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm with Revs. Brad Boynton and Tim Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her children, Glen E. Mays (Kathy), of Perkins, Dr. Gloria Jean Mays of College Station, TX, Nan M. Bowers (Jody) of Millen, and Mark O. Mays (Sandra) of Perkins; her sister, Aurelia B. Black (F.A.) of Millen, grandchildren, Cindy M. Anderson (Todd) Jonathan Mays (Stephanie), Amanda R. Mays, Jay T. Bowers, and Andrew M. Mays, including several step grandchildren, several great grandchildren several nieces and nephews.

Active Pallbearers will be Wesley Godbee, Dewayne Herrington, Glynn Odom, Dennis Small, Dave Waters, and Jim Waters.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Holton, Junior Joyner, and Ralph Odom.

The family would like to express a special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Mrs. Shirley Taylor, Ms. Linda Summers, Ms. Rozalynn Summers, and Ms. Doreatha Golfin.

Memorials may be made to the Dry Branch Baptist Church Building Fund.
