Mr. Robert B. "Bob" Hughes, Sr., 78, died Saturday, August 13, 2011.

He was born in Ailey, GA, was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and retired as owner of Hughes Tire and Recap Company in Savannah.

Mr. Hughes was a member of the Millen United Methodist Church where he had been past chairman of the Board of Trustees and the Methodist Men's Club. He had been President of the Georgia Tire Dealers and a lifetime member of the AMBUCS of Savannah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis B. and Essie Hughes and his brother, Kenneth Evans Hughes.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday at the Millen United Methodist Church with burial to follow at 2:30 pm at the Hughes Family Cemetery in Ailey.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Earldene Bowen Hughes of Millen; son, Robert B. (Tammi) Hughes, Jr. of Savannah; daughter, Kay (Tim) Hughes Autrey of Jessieville, AR; a brother, Wilmer "Sweet" Hughes of Ailey; seven grandchildren, Brett (Sandy) Hughes, Alex Hughes, Dylan Hughes, David Autrey, Garry Autrey, Dedra Autrey, and Jody Cline; a great grandchild, Matt Hughes; and his beloved dogs, Stinker and Snipper.

Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Crowe-Fields Funeral Home in Millen.
