Robert Daniel
Boatright
Jul 31, 1956 — Dec 25, 2024
Millen
Robert Daniel Boatright entered into heavenly rest on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born July 31, 1956 in Reno, Nevada, Robert was the son of the late Sara Hodges Boatright and Harvey Voss Boatright.
After graduating from Wrens High School, he enlisted in the United States Army, in service to his country, retiring honorably after twenty years with the rank of Staff Sargent (SSG). During his tenure in the Army, he received many distinguished awards and medals for participation in military campaigns and engagements, as well as, during national emergencies; two of which were the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Robert continued his education at Augusta College earning an associate degree in Computer Science.
Robert not only served his country but also was a servant to his community, his Church, his family and his friends. He was an active member of the Lions Club where he served two terms as President. He delighted in pursuing and obtaining technology through the Lions Club, which provided sight testing to students in our local communities.
A member of the Millen Baptist Church, he enjoyed attending the Boch Sunday school class, serving as Deacon and being an usher on Sunday morning services. This participation was an honor to him and to those he served.
Millen became Robert's residence many years ago but it was his union and love for his wife Kim Edenfield Boatright that made Millen his home.
In addition to his wife Kim, he is survived by brother, Michael Boatright ,Children: Daniel Boatright (Emily), Adam Boatright (Natalie), Sherri Boatright, Amber Burk (John), and Blake Gay (Danielle). Grandchildren: Jacob, Katy, Jonathan, Wesley, Annie, Adam Jr, Paisley, Coldin Boatright, Marlena and DJ Preston and "Pappy" to Addie Grace and Charleigh Rose Gay, Hudson and Brenna Burk. Robert is also mourned by extended family including cousins and other relatives.
Robert's life is a testament to a journey from brokenness to glory, the true definition of God's grace and love. Although our time together may not have been as long as we may have wished, the impact he left on his family and friends is worth a lifetime, because there is "Joy in the Morning" we will be together again, in the campgrounds of Heaven.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am Monday, December 30, 2024 at Millen Baptist Church with the funeral to follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Cam Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow at the Millen Cemetery.
