Rickey L. Dickey, age 71, passed on April 10, 2026 after a long illness with family at his bedside. He was born March 14, 1955 in Jenkins County to Willie A. Dickey and Grace Johnson Dickey.

He was a lifelong resident of Jenkins County and graduated from Jenkins County High School in 1973.  He briefly worked for Planters EMC before going to work for Delta Pest Control where he worked for 40 years.

In 1975 he married Cathy Sheley and they built a life together for 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his friends. He enjoyed going to the mountains every October with his wife and family members.

He is survived by his wife Cathy Dickey; sisters, Nell Oglesby and Bonnie Garvin; brother-in-laws, Lewis Sheley (Mary) and Billy Sheley (Rose) and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Big Horse Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Tim Fields officiating. Visitation will be graveside after the service.

Pallbearers will be Mike Wiggins, Michael Sheley, Stacy Garvin, Don Oglesby, Chris Cranshaw, Gene Miller and Duane Dickey.
