Reita Olita Clifton Waters, 86, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Ogeechee Area Hospice.

She was born on December 29, 1930 to George Washington and Sadie Mae Mixon Clifton in Statesboro. She was a graduate of Portal High School and Georgia Teachers College, which is now known as Georgia Southern University. She began her teaching career in Pierce County. Upon marrying her husband James, the love of her life, she moved to Jenkins County where she completed her 43 year teaching career. Mrs. Waters was a member of the Millen Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class and Sara Nell Kent Mission Class. She taught Bible Study for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband James and her 2 sons, Carswell and Pierce.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Millen Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Dr. Maurice Crowder, Rev. David Turner, Rev. Brad Asbury, and Thomas Hendrix will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Craig Hendrix, Mitchell Hendrix, Webster Hendrix, Josh Thompson, Cross Womack, and Gabe Womack.

Survivors include her 2 daughters, Vondesa Lee (Rodney) of Millen and Sadeanya Parker of Portal; 8 grandchildren, Luke Waters, Lauren Rucker, Jamey Lee (Haley), Justin Lee (Katie), Kolton Lee, Chansley Parker, Dalanya Parker, Gage Parker; 3 great grandchildren, Camdyn Lee, Carter Lee, and Timber Lee; and 2 special nieces who were like her own daughters, Juanita Morton of Brooklet and Georgette Thompson of Statesboro.
