Obituary

Polly Ann Dyches Cowart, 87, went to her heavenly home August 24, 2024, her mind and body are now whole.  She was the oldest daughter of Woodrow and Martha Dyches.  She was born September 26, 1936.  Polly graduated from Emanuel County Institute.  She was the wife of Bobby Joe Cowart.  Polly embraced her role as a farmer's wife and as a mother to their daughter Kaye.

Bobby and Polly were active members of Elam Baptist Church in Jenkins County until failing health prevented their participation.  Upon moving to Tybee Island to live with Kaye and Bill, she attended Trinity Chapel Methodist Church.  She loved Jesus all her life.

Polly was a talented seamstress, as well as a wonderful cook and hostess.  She loved to work in the yard and created wonderful flower arrangements.  She retired from Savannah-Chatham Board of Education where she was the secretary at Massie School.

Polly is predeceased by her parents Woodrow and Martha Dyches, her husband Bobby Joe Cowart and her sister Bobbie Fay Collins.

She is survived by her daughter Kaye, her son-in-law Bill and granddaughter Lisa.  She is also survived by her brother JD Dyches, sister-in-law Jackie and brother-in-law Russell Collins.  In addition she is survived  by many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Summer Breeze Senior Living and Hospice Savannah for providing care for Polly.  Also Arnold Stephens  has been invaluable with his care for Polly and her home.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am. until the funeral hour at 11:00 am, Friday, August 30th at Elam Baptist Church located at 5199 Elan Road, Millen, GA.

Pallbearers will be J.D. Dyches Jr., Raymond Wiley, Rusty Simmons, David Blissett, Arnold Stephens and Terry Hickman.

Memorials may be made to Elam Baptist Church, 5199 Elam Rd., Millen, GA 30442.
