Nell Stokes Reeves' Obituary
Nell Stokes Reeves, 93, died Monday, October 24, 2011, at Ogeechee Area Hospice following an extended illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, R. Hubert Reeves, Jr.
She is survived by her children, R. Hubert Reeves, III (Dale), Millen Ga., Robert S. Reeves (Daisy), Swainsboro, Ga., and Barbara R. Partain (Preston), Cartersville, Ga; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia S. Yunger, Cinncinatti, Oh., and Mary S. Grambo, California, Md., brother in law Robert A. Reeves, Sr., Millen, Ga. and sister in law Amalie R. Helbert, Duluth, Ga.
Mrs. Reeves was born in Wilkinson County, Ga., and lived all her adult life in Jenkins County. She received her teaching certificate from Georgia State College for Women and taught at the Red Hill School. She was employed by Reeves Oil Company until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of Millen United Methodist Church where she formerly led and was the pianist for the children's choir, taught children's Sunday School, and was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Beulah Garner Sunday School Class. She was active in the Lions Club Women's Auxiliary, was a Rotaryanne and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a member and past president of the Azalea Garden Club, past president of both the Jenkins County High School Band Boosters and PTA. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of several bridge clubs.
A service celebrating her life, death and resurrection will be held at Millen United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at 11 a.m., Rev. Bernie Khaw officiating.
Friends may call upon the family at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home on Tuesday evening between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m.
Active pallbearers are grandsons, Scott Reeves, Rhes Reeves, Chris Reeves, Tripp Partain, and Matt Partain, and step-grandsons, Stacey Herrmann, Scott Herrmann, Rew Herrmann.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Beulah Garner Sunday School Class and the Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Methodist Children's Home or the Millen United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
