Melvin George Dickey, 89, moved from his home in Millen, Georgia to his home in Heaven on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

Mr. Dickey was a member of Millen Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He was a member of the BOCH Sunday School Class.

He retired as a volunteer firefighter with the Millen-Jenkins County Fire Department with 20 years' service. He also served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Annelle Dickey; three daughters, Melodye Williams (Buford), Harriett D. Cato and Beverly D. Joiner (Grady Howard); five grandchildren, David Allen Cato (Svetlana), Jeremy D. McBride (Amy), Anna Marea' Allen (Michael Dean), Justin G. McBride (Tara) and Amee Joiner Williams (Jason Everette); six great-grandchildren, Eden Sine' Allen, Sydali Rose (Syda), Indelwynn Skye (Indie) and Calliope Frey (Opie) Williams, Carson Dwaine McBride and Georgia Grey McBride; a sister, Elise D. Williams; many other beloved relatives, and a special family friend, Wanda Taylor Williams.

Mr. Dickey's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, in Millen Baptist Church with the Rev. Brad Asbury officiating.  Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and burial will follow the service in Millen Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Becton, Rodney Becton, Tim Becton, Phil Eastmead, T.J. Moore and Jason Everette Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Millen-Jenkins Fire Department, deacons of Millen Baptist Church, members of the BOCH Sunday School Class, Eddie Eastmead, Jerry Jenkins, Harry Joyner and Willie Simpkins.
