The world lost a little bit of its sparkle on Sunday, September 20 when Matthew D. Pruitt passed away at the age of 68. Matt was born in Honea Path, SC to the late James L. Pruitt and Joyce Tolly Pruitt. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his daughter, Amy McKee.

Matt dedicated many years of his career to being a refueling technician and project manager with Westinghouse. Matt loved gardening, playing his guitars and was most at home on his and Hope’s acreage, finding peace and purpose in the daily rhythms of farm life. In his younger years he was a member of the Black Bottom Boys and played the banjo alongside country singer Porter Wagner at the annual Honey Sop.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hope of 18 years; his son Nicholas (Virginia) Ellison; grandkids Evelyn and Lessie of Monroe, Louisiana; son-in-law, Brad McKee and grandkids Belle and Griff of South Carolina; his brother, Luke (Teresa) Pruitt and his sister Karon (Dusty) Strickland; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

No services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
