Mary Atha Holton Hudlow died at age 85 on October 22, 2015 in Waycross, Georgia. Born June 30, 1930 in Jenkins County, Georgia, she was the firstborn of parents Wilbur Harvey Holton and Rebecca Irene Radcliffe Holton. A graduate and class president of Jenkins County High School, she furthered her education at Medical College of Georgia and worked for many years as an x-ray technologist. She married Charles Cecil Hudlow in Augusta, Georgia on January 30, 1954, and enjoyed making a home and raising children in Forest Park, GA. Once the nest was empty, she and Charles moved to other Atlanta suburbs, Dublin, GA, and Summerville, SC, before moving to Baptist Village in Waycross, GA. A faithful servant of God and strong supporter of the Southern Baptist denomination, she held many positions of leadership in missionary organizations, children's church education, and her children's school associations. Together, she and Charles were founding members of Second Baptist Church, Forest Park, GA, and helped revive the congregation of Panhandle Baptist Church, Hampton, GA. She had an optimism and zest for life that was evident in all that she did, even when what she could do was limited by her physical condition. Always passionate about home-making, sewing in particular, she was known by friends and family as an excellent seamstress who often whistled while she worked. In later years, she loved and doted on her grandchildren and took delight in their every breath.

Mary is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, Charles Cecil Hudlow, sister, Merle Holton Gregory, and brother-in-law, Johnny Wilson.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Kenneth Michael Hudlow (Beth) of Lehighton, PA, Charlotte Hudlow Moon of Carol Stream, IL, Miriam Hudlow Stripling (Billy) of Charleston, SC, and Charles Conroy Hudlow (Melrose) of Mobile, AL; treasured grandchildren A. Kelley Hudlow, Andrew Michael Jenkins, Charles Richard Moon (Leah), Michael Kimsey Hudlow; and great-grandchildren Kaylee and Archer Hudlow. Also surviving are siblings Wilbur Earl Holton (Geri) of San Diego, CA, and Pearl Holton Wilson of Brunswick, GA, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, and she deeply loved us all.
Visitation will be at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home, Millen, GA at noon on Sunday, October 25, followed by a 1:00 graveside service at Millen Cemetery, 1029 College Avenue, the Rev. A. Kelley Hudlow, Deacon, officiating.

The family is grateful for those who provided loving care to Mary during her later years in Waycross. She looked forward to a reunion with those who have gone before. We who remain behind take comfort in the memories we hold, knowing she would want us to continue to live out her example of joyful living, strength in adversity, and service to others.
