Mrs. Mary "Betty" Elizabeth Smith Guthrie, 67, of Millen, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at her residence.

She was born in Augusta, GA on April 8, 1946. She lived on Golden Camp Rd. until the 15th of March 1965. This day she married Jesse Guthrie the love of her life. They had two daughters, together that gave her four wonderful grandsons and recently one great granddaughter. She was married for 48 years and lived a fulfilled life with her family.
Betty worked at Millen Sportswear, Jockey International, and several other places. Anyone that ever met her knew that she was a loving and outgoing person. She always thought of others first.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christina Davidson Smith and Dan E. Smith; a daughter, Angela Guthrie Oglesby; and brothers, Danny Smith, Donald Smith, and David Smith.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday at the Oak Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Archer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse E. Guthrie; daughter, Julie (Matt) Bird of Millen; Son-in-law, Rodney Oglesby; sister, Barbara (Tom) Sheridan; four grandsons, Justin Williams, Christopher Oglesby, Travis Williams, and Bryan Oglesby and a great granddaughter, Ella Grace Williams.

Active Pallbearers will be Tommy Sheridan, Joe Williams, John Moore, James Graham, Billy Puffer, Mitch Wall, Byron Scoggins, and Ray Garvin.

Visitation will be 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
