OBITUARY FOR:

Margaret Newton

Margaret Upchurch Newton, 90, died Saturday, September 12, 2020, at the Bryan County Nursing home.

Mrs. Newton was born in Lowndes County, GA., attended both GA Southern University, then known as GA Teachers College and the University of GA where she received degrees in secondary Education. Most of her teaching career was spent in the Jenkins County School system teaching 5 ^th and 6 ^th grade students.  Margaret enjoyed gardening and was an avid bridge player. She was a member of the Millen Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by husband Hugh Newton.

Graveside Services will be at 11:00am on Wednesday September 16 at Elam Cemetery with Reverend Brad Asbury officiating. Visitation will be at the graveside.

Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh Matthew Newton, Jr and Penny of Richmond Hill, Michael Rodney Newton and Linda of Millen, and Stephen Martin Newton and Patsy of Dunwoody, six grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, and Mark Newton, and Skyler, Samantha and Jordon Newton and six great grandchildren.
