Margaret O. Mixon Johnson, 87, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023 after an extended illness.

Margaret was born in Jenkins County July 1, 1935. She was a retired machine operator for Jockey International after 37 years, then worked as nanny for the Chance family lovingly known as Me-Me, then worked in various restaurants in the kitchens of (Jean) Chester's Restaurant, Krystal's Taste of Country, and The Country Peach. Margaret retired from restaurant work in 2019. She was presently residing at Pruitt Health Bethany here in Millen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Hampton Mixon and Ida James Mixon; husband Lewis Edgar Johnson; brothers, Donald Wayne Mixon and Earl Mixon; and sister, Sara Mixon Cook.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Billy L. Mixon (Joyce) and Timothy Lewis Johnson of Millen; grandchild, Wesley Kyle Mixon of Hephzibah and step-grandchildren, Cyle Lowe and Amber Lowe of Limon, CO, and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Jenkins County Medical Center for their excellent care and to Pruitt Health Bethany and their Hospice service for their loving care.

A private ceremony, with family, at the Jeffers Family Cemetery will be at a later date.
