Mamie Lou Godbee went to be with the Lord on August 3rd, 2023 at her residence in Ocala, FL.

She was born March 22, 1926 in Jenkins County, she was a retired school bus driver for the Burke County School Board Department of Transportation, and was a member of Hurst Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 1100 am Saturday, August 19, 2023 with funeral to follow at 11:00 am at Hurst Baptist Church

Mamie Lou Godbee was the daughter of the late Johnnie Hudson Messex and Ruby Addlaid Hargrove Messex. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Watson Godbee; her two daughters, Dorothy Blackburn and Racheal Jenkins Wilkerson; her brothers, Johnnie Lee Messex, Marvin Dewey Messex, Sr., Jimmy Messex and Tannie Wade Messex and her sister  Lula Bell Dixon.

She is survived by her 3 sons; Dennis Blackburn (Wanda), of Millen, Robbie Blackburn (Virginia), of Sylvania and Larry Blackburn (Star), of Sardis; her daughter Voncille Arban of Ocala, Florida; 14 Grandchildren, 37 Great-Grandchildren and 12 Great-Great-Grandchildren; and her sisters, Mary Goodale of Ruffin, SC, Julia Ferguson of Hampton SC and Grace Mosley Bedgood of Lyons, GA.
