Loron "Brook"
Holbrook Bowers
Jul 1, 1958 — Oct 10, 2022
Orlando
On Monday, October 10, 2022 , Loron Holbrook Bowers, loving husband, father, grandpa, and "Uncle Brook" to all who knew him, passed away at age 64.
Brook was born on July 1, 1958, in Augusta, GA, to John and Barbara (Lanford) Bowers. He graduated from Jenkins County High in 1976 and later raised his son Houston and his daughter Savanna. For most of his life, he worked in sales. On December 1, 2017, he married Rebekah Barlow, his high school sweetheart whom he adored. At the time of his death, he worked for Woodland Environmental as a heavy equipment operator.
Uncle Brook had a passion for golfing, and just as he loved to travel with Rebekah, his golf clubs did too. He would find a course to play every chance he could. All who knew Uncle Brook also knew how he felt about his DAWGS. On every game day, his children would pick up the phone to hear, "How 'bout them dawgs!" in his most excited voice. He'd then go on to highlight his favorite plays of each game. Uncle Brook never met a stranger and instantly became "uncle" to every new face he encountered. Regardless if he met you out West, in the East, up North, or down South, he was instantly your friend and Uncle Brook. He loved hard and unconditionally, and he will always be remembered by his loved ones for his sense of humor, his "Hey, girly," his infectious smile, and his compassionate spirit. He loved our functional, dysfunctional family with all his heart
Brook was preceded in death by his father, John; his mother, Barbara; and his baby brother, Mark.
He is survived by his wife, Rebekah Barlow Bowers of Orlando, FL; son, John Houston Bowers (Haylee) and grandson, Henrik Bowers, all of Addieville, IL; daughter, Savanna Holbrook Bowers (Spencer), of Charleston, SC; brother Jody Bowers (Nan); mother-in-law Alice (Barlow) Conforti; Sister-in-law Deborah June Ponzio; four nephews, Will Bowers (Brooke); Chuck Cates; Ryan Cates (Amber); and Jay Bowers, all of Millen, GA; three nieces, Kyla Bowers Mincey (Michael) and Rebekah Bowers Wasden of Millen ,GA; and Kori Bowers Dumas (Tim) of Holly Springs, NC . Uncle Brook loved his great nieces and nephews as his own: Vic Mincey; Kyleigh and Timmy Dumas; Mark and William Wasden; Lane and Layla Bowers; Addie, Dani, Chandler, and Jaxten Cates; and many others that he held close and dear to his heart .
