Linda Gail Womack passed away on February 28, 2015 after a short illness. She was born in Swainsboro, Georgia on December 1, 1951 the daughter of Robbie and Geraldine Womack. Her passion for life, family, friends and her work was felt by those around her who were uplifted by her caring and kind nature.

Linda graduated from Middle Georgia College and Georgia Southern University and began her 40 year Governmental Relations career in Washington D.C. serving on the staff of her own member of Congress from Georgia where she worked in the areas of constituent services.

After leaving Washington to return to Georgia, Linda worked for 17 years in the electric utility industry where she established the first Governmental Affairs Department for Oglethorpe Power and was responsible for legislative and regulatory proposals, analyzing and formulating company policy and position and worked with the Georgia Legislature, Georgia Congressional Delegation, Georgia's Public Service Commission, and environmental and other regulatory agencies.
Linda continued her career in Governmental Relations and public affairs by joining Warner-Lambert as the State Government Regional Manager and was responsible for 10 Southeastern states. While at Warner-Lambert she was twice honored as a recipient in the Winners Circle program designed to acknowledge the company's top performers. She also received the National Management Achievement Award. Linda represented Warner-Lambert before state legislatures, boards of pharmacy, medicine, and on pharmaceutical and consumer products issues. She also served as the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association's Georgia Task Force.

Linda was the Director of State Government Affairs at Emory University for the past 15 years where she served as Emory's voice with elected officials at the state level on issues that affected academics, medical research, higher education, healthcare, students and patients. She served on the Wesley Woods Long Term Care Hospital board and on the Mental Health and Aging Policy Committee, a coalition of individuals representing organizations in Georgia that are committed to issues affecting aging and mental health. She was a member of the Georgia Hospital Association's Lobbying Committee and worked with the Medical Association of Georgia and specialty societies including Georgia Society of Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, Pediatrics, Psychiatric and Emergency Physicians and the Georgia Radiological Society. She also worked with the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians and health advocacy groups that include, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, the Diabetes Foundation, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, and the Families First of Georgia. Linda was also a member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Council for 30 years where she served a two year term as chair.

Linda was a resident of Decatur, Georgia, an enthusiastic Atlanta Braves Fan, and enjoyed spending time with her nephews and their children.

Linda is survived by her sister Gerry Sutton and her husband John Sutton, Sr, two nephews, John Sutton Jr, his wife Dara and their children, Jackson, Campbell, Cassidy; Robert Sutton and his wife Lindsey and daughter Preslee, three aunts : Blonnie Womack Johnson, Shelva Jean Sherrod, Helen Sherrod and special friends Marla Lowe, Sherri Smith, Pat Bryant, Sandra Hudson, Charlie Harmon, Betty Willis, Jenka Fyfe, Cameron Taylor , Jim Wagner, Bob Bachman, Vincent Dollard, Brian Ginn, Tarry Hodges, Julie Kerlin, Elaine and Dwight Harrison, Brenda Gartrell, Dr. Bill Acton, Lauree Bunderson, Margaret Martin, Gloria Bargeron, Billie Newton, Lauren Fralick, Will and Ashley Lowe, Laura Fair, Carolyn Holder and her loyal pet Shih tzu, Daisy.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p. m. Wednesday at Fair Haven United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Millen Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Jim Sherrod, G. W. Johnson, Gary Johnson, Greg Johnson, Darrel Sherrod, and Daniel Sherrod.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
