Obituary

Lee and his wife, Lynde entered their heavenly home early Saturday morning, May 11,2024 along with their faithful companions, Leroy and Lucy. This unexpected, tragic accident left families and friends near and far reeling from the shock of their loss.

Lee was born to the late Winton L. Johnson, and his loving mother, Miriam Hendley Johnson on August 30, 1962. He enjoyed being the baby brother of his sister, Carolyn (Wayne) Fields, and brother John Alex Johnson and Tracy Allen (Karen) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Little Wint and Jay (Jay Bird) Johnson.

God blessed him with the wisdom, grit, and tenacity to keep a fourth generational truck business thriving. He was known widely as the best diesel mechanic throughout many states since a young man. Lee had a photographic memory of all transportation routes along the east coast – who needs a map he would say?   He was most adaptive at juggling priorities and brokering business deals while answering a million phone calls and keeping everyone laughing along the way. His humor contributed to the love of his kids and grandkids. In their eyes, he was not only a father figure (Papa Lee), but a go to for everything.

From summer nights at Lake Oconee, water skiing and tubing, to fishing at the Ogeechee River, Papa Lee enjoyed the outdoors, but he enjoyed them most with his wife, kids, grandkids, and close friends. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his connections by boating to Hilton Head for a day trip, traveling out West to snow ski, or throwing large cook outs at his house that were filled with laughter and good food. One thing that is remembered most about Lee is that he never met a stranger and was always willing to give a helping hand. Knowing him was to truly love him. Watching him grow in Christ each year of his life left a lasting impact on his proud family and encouraged them to walk with the Lord.

When anyone asked Lee, "How are you doing?" He would always say, "I'm doing a whole lot better than I deserve." We should all strive to live by this motto, rest in peace Daddy, Papa Lee, and Lynde as your place on this earth will never be filled.

He will be immensely missed by his children:   Racheal (Ronnie) Johnson, Justin (Kassi) Johnson, Cody Johnson, and Christa (Luke) Zeigler, Hannah (James) Conner, Blakely (Ryan) Sellars, and Tyler (Jessica) Collins.

His  grandchildren:   Blake Johnson, Kade Johnson, Trip Teem, Molli Teem, Kailee Ann Amerson, Brighton Johnson, Blaire Johnson, Kinsley Zeigler, Hattie Zeigler, Sadie Zeigler, Taverly Zeigler, Darcy Zeigler, Harper Conner, Elliott Conner, Rory Conner, Remi Conner, and Skyler Collins.

Visitation is 10 until 12 Thursday at Elam Baptist Church with funeral service at 12 pm May 16.

Pallbearers: Blake and Kade Johnson, Trip Teem, Frank Foreman, Coleby Smith and Buck Van Buren .

Honorary Pallbearers: Roger Smith, Jr., David Tucker, Jimmy Pye, Wade Hodges, Jeff Deal, Terry Garvin, Brian Lane, Burt Rocker, Dave Henry, and employees of Lee Johnson Trucking.
