Larry Carlyle Thompson, 66, died Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at his residence after a long battle with cancer brought on by Agent Orange.
He was born in Jenkins County, a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Bronze Star medal, a retired poultry supervisor for Claxton Poultry and had attended Elam Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Thompson.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday at Elam Baptist Church with Dr. Maurice Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Paynes Chapel United Methodist Cemetery with Military Honors.
Active Pallbearers will be cousins, George Dudley, Andy Dudley, Robert Thompson, Dudley Clifton, Rufus "Bubba" Small, Bill Gainey, and Mikel Small.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Virginia's Coffee Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Kirkland Thompson; a son, Ben Thompson of Millen; a daughter, Alicia Thompson Epperson of Reidsville; a step-son, Eddie Williams; 2 step-daughters, Krystal (Midge) Chance and Keri Williams all of Millen; 2 grandchildren, Ryan Thompson and Regan Epperson and 2 step-grandchildren, Whitney Clark and Harley Purvis; and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home of Millen.
