Kathleen J. Cowart went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2025. She was born in Emanuel County on June 21, 1938 to the late Robert L. and Georgia Kay Johnson.

Kathleen was known by family and friends to be "unfiltered" and a "Hot Mess". She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren.  She was a NASCAR fan and served as assistant manager for Akra Dress Shop for many years.  She was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. and Georgia Kay Johnson; siblings, Robert Johnson Jr., Dick Johnson, James Johnson and Bessie Williams.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Rhoden (Ed); son, Tony Cowart (Phyllis); grandchildren, Misti Strickland, Michael Cowart, Kyle Cowart, Troy Cowart and Taylr Sams; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Pastor Micah Strickland and Wade Williams officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, June 20, 2025 at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home and she will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Michael Cowart, Troy Cowart, Kyle Cowart, Alan Johnson, Edward Rhoden and Bubba Morgan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
