Julie Jenkins Gainey, 57, of Millen, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025 after an extended illness.

Julie was born December 4, 1967 to the late Carol Toole & the late Lewis Edward Jenkins. She spent her childhood enjoying both her family farms in Wadley & Perkins.

In 1987, she married the love of her life, Bart, and they soon welcomed their 3 girls; Hope, Jordan & Anna. Julie's world revolved around her family. She always had a special place in her heart for all of the kids that she had the pleasure of teaching during her time at Jenkins County Elementary School. She began attending church at Oak Hill Baptist as a child. She loved her church family and was an active member as long as her health allowed. Julie enjoyed baking cakes, camping and fishing with her family.

Julie is preceded in death by her mother, Carol Toole, her father Lewis Edward Jenkins, grandparents, Alec & Minnie Lou Jenkins, brother, David Jenkins and grandson, Asa Tamblyn.

Julie is survived by her husband Bart Gainey, daughters Hope (David) Tamblyn of Twin City, Jordan (Tom) Wooten of Tacoma, Washington, and Anna (Brad) Dryer of Millen. She is also survived by her sister, Christina Jenkins (Doug) Harrell & brother Keith Jenkins; an aunt Barbara Leonard, and step mothers Sybil Jenkins & Kytrena (David) Gay. Julie was affectionately known as "JuJu" to her grandchildren: Kendall & Josiah (Hope), Blythe, Hadley, Kaylyn & Miya (Jordan), & Brie & Banks (Anna), niece, Laney Kate (Christina); her in-laws Bill & Wilma Gainey, sisters in law, Rhonda Gainey & Monica (John Paul) Johnson, brother in law, Brett (Jennifer) Gainey. She was also survived by four step sisters; Tammy Lane, Tonia Underwood, Tracy Coleman & Christi Johnson, and numerous nephews, nieces & cousins.

Honorary pallbearers are Jenkins County Special Education staff.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Joshua Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends and family for visitation one hour prior to the service.
