Obituary

Johnna Gay Lee, 61, of Garfield was called home to be with our Lord on September 27, 2022.  Throughout her sickness, she kept a positive attitude and did not want anyone worrying or making a fuss over her.  She would often smile and say, "Look for the silver lining" which became one of her favorite expressions.

Born in Bulloch County, Johnna was a member of Garfield Baptist Church, a 1979 honor graduate of Buckhead Academy, and she attended Armstrong State University.  Along her life's journey she became an avid fan of college football.  Anyone who knew her well knew that the UGA Bulldogs and LSU (Geaux) Tigers were her two favorite teams.  She enjoyed watching all their games on tv, baking cheesecakes, making many different kinds of crafts, having her fingernails perfectly polished, and mountain vacations spent at Andy's Trout Farm.  She also enjoyed watching Jeopardy each evening with her husband and youngest son and watching scary movies for hours on end.  But her favorite pastime was spending days with her family, especially her seven grandchildren who were the lights of their NaNee's existence!

Johnna was preceded in death by her parents, John Harry and Kathryn Gay of Garfield;  and her parents-in-law, Frank and Carolyn Lee of Millen.

Survivors include her devoted husband and love of her life, Jon Lee of Garfield;  four children, Wes Lee of Millen; Megan (Lee) Ogden of Garfield; Kade (Paige) Lee of Millen; and Keller Lee of Statesboro;  seven grandchildren, Gabe Lee, Holden Bowen, Hayden Harrison, Jack Lee, Avie Pate Lee, Dansby Lee, and Retta Ray Lee;  four sisters, Cynthia Bragg of Waynesboro; Nancy (Carter) Crawford of Sylvania; Kathy (Chris) Lee of Millen; and Sarah Jane (Walter) Odiorne of Blythewood, SC;  and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 pm Saturday, October 1st at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home in Millen.  Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, October 2nd at Hebron Cemetery in Garfield with Pastor Tim Fields officiating.

Active Pallbearers will be Bob Fields, Wendell Clark, Calvin Mixon, Rayburn Johnson, Tracy Johnson, and Jody Bowers.

Memorials may be made to Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o John W. Cowart, Sr., 70A Bethany Way, Statesboro, GA 30458.
