Joel M. Hooks, Sr., age 77, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his residence.

He was born in Jenkins County, a retired farmer and restaurant owner, and a member of Elam Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday at Millen Baptist Church with Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in the Elam Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joel Hooks Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Brower Hooks; a daughter, Julie (Chris) Conway of Perry; a daughter-in-law, Susan Jones Hooks; 4 grandsons, Brandon and Sydney Hooks and Carson and Cory Conway; 2 granddaughters, Catelyn Conway and Christen "Coopie" Hooks; and 2 great grandchildren, Makayla and Cameron Hooks; 2 sisters, Jeanette H. Weathersby of Millen and Carolyn (Dwight) Smith of Box Springs, GA; 2 brothers, Harold Hooks of North Augusta, SC, and Robert Hooks of Alpharetta.

Active Pallbearers will be Horace Weathersby, Jon Harvey Weathersby, Wayne Fields, Tyler Kirkland, David Adams, Ray Waters, Jay Bowers, Stephen Bragg, and Dave Waters.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Dailey, Robert Oglesby, Jimmy Pye, George Gunn, William Gunn, Roy Cook, F. A. Black, Gailyn Thompson, Joey Davis and Rick McNeely.

Visitation will be 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
