Millen

Obituary

Jeni joined her parents in eternity with their Savior on May 20, 2023.

Since 2020 she has had to adjust her dreams and goals to live with, learn about, and advocate for ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

Jeni lived in the Atlanta area until the age of 13 when her mother moved back to Millen with Jeni and her sister Allyson.  After helping care for her maternal Grandmother, who died of cancer, Jeni started to feel like she was meant to be a nurse.  She dedicated her life to nursing and believed, for her, it was a calling.  She spent 36 years at the bedside or in management roles in Critical Care or Emergency Nursing.  She received her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from South University in Savannah, GA.  She worked in Family Practice as a Nurse Practitioner, with Dr. Kyle Gay for 3 years and she covered the Emergency Room on the weekends.  She then accepted a position with East Georgia Regional Medical Center on their Hospitalist Team.  She held many certifications as a nurse and as a provider.  However, the two she was most proud of was Certified Critical Care RN and Advanced Trauma Life Support (as a provider).

After being diagnosed with ALS in the summer of 2020 she immediately retired.  She committed her time to her family and to traveling more.  She had two hobbies in life, her girls and traveling to places she had never visited before.  Her favorite place to visit was New York City and her favorite sport was Ice Hockey.

Jeni was an active member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.  Since the progression of ALS, she was not able to attend in person but, she faithfully tuned in online every Sunday.  She was also very dedicated to her hometown of Millen.  Throughout the years she participated and held office in many Civic Groups.  Her favorites included Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce Board, Green Thumb Garden Club, Millen Woman's Club, Better Hometown and Community for Christ.

Jeni is preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Rebecca Becton, her biological father, William G. Lunsford, Jr., sister, Allyson Romedy, half-brother, Keith Loudermilk (Lunsford), and nephew, Michael Becton.

Jeni is survived by her daughters, Emilee Clarke (Kevin), Hannah Johnson (Hilton) both of Millen, sister, Michelle Finch (Dedrick) of Baygall Community, Bulloch County, half-brother, William G. Lunsford, III and half-sister, Taylor Lunsford (David Kelly) both of the Atlanta area, and nephew Marc Becton, Millen.  A very special Aunt, Martha Sue Wilson, close cousin, Donna Becton McMillan and best friend, Melba Pulliam Lane, all of Millen, Mason and Danielle Davis and PG's babies also of Millen.  She is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Dr. Kyle Gay, Henry Young, Ricky Baggett, A. J. Jenkins, Jimmy Johnson, Dean Dailey, Dennis Small, and Dean Brinson.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 22, 2023 from 6PM – 8PM. at Crowe Fields Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Joshua Johnson, and Rev. Tim Fields officiating.  Burial will follow immediately in the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
