Obituary

Mrs. Jean Hendley Chester, age 83, died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Candler Hospital in Savannah.

She was a lifelong resident of Jenkins County. Jean had owned and operated Jean's Café and Chester's Country Kitchen for over 45 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She took meals to the sick and disabled and made candy and pies for the masses at Christmas and other holidays. Jean was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Junior Chester and daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Boatright.

Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Millen Cemetery

Survivors include her son, Russell Jackson (Tammy) of Hermitage, TN; daughters, Judy Joyner (Jeff) and Deborah Bennett (Wayne) of Millen; grandchildren, Kelly Gnann (Matt), Hannah Jackson, Dallas Jackson, Chester Joyner, Bryce Joyner, Tyson Bennett, Jason Bennett, and Robbie Baird; a great grandchild, Ryley Baird; and a brother, Lloyd Hendley of Nevils.
