Jancy Dale Stephens Thorne, 77, died peacefully in her home Saturday, October 20, 2018.

Jan was born January 20, 1941 and was a lifelong resident of Millen.

She was a graduate of Jenkins County High School and the University of Georgia. She taught high school English for a short time, then devoted her life to being a wife, mother, and "MiMi". As a lifelong member of Millen Baptist Church, Jan enjoyed friendships in the Anita Tinley Sunday School Class and the Vera Thorne Bible Study group. She also loved teaching Sunday School to preschoolers for many years. As a member of the Millen Garden Club, Jan developed a joy of plants and flowers. Jan also enjoyed passions such as playing piano, reading, antiquing, watching her Georgia Bulldogs play, and traveling to the mountains yearly to see the autumn leaves. She especially loved every minute spent with her grandchildren and cheered them on at all of their sports and activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Gordon and Mary Dale Hamrick Stephens and her sister, Mary Roberta Stephens.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Ernest Middleton Thorne Jr.; children, Ernest Middleton "Mid" Thorne, III (Diana) and daughter, Jancy Thorne Reavis (Phil); three grandchildren, Katherine Dale Reavis, Duncan Philip Reavis, and Sallee Hamrick Thorne all of Roswell. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p. m. Monday at Millen
Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Millen Cemetery.
