Garfield, Ga.-Mr. James William Johnson, age 79, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at his residence.

He was born in Emanuel County, a veteran of the U. S. Army, was retired from Builders Transport as a truck driver and a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

Mr. Johnson was a former member of Garfield Volunteer Fire Department, Garfield City Council, and the Georgia Sheriff's association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Georgia Johnson, and brothers, Robert Lee Johnson and Richard Russell Johnson.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Hildred M. Johnson; son, Joseph William "Bunny" Johnson (Brenda) of Millen; 2 sisters, Kathleen Cowart of Garfield and Bessie Williams (Jerry) of Macon; 3 grandchildren, Tabatha Bennett (Jamie), Monica Broxton (Chris), and Tiffany Adams (Brad) and 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
