Mr. James D. "Jaybird" Hendley, 71, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014.
He was born in Jenkins County, a retired forester/owner of Hendley Logging Company, and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertie and Eunice Hendley; brother, Charles Hendley; sisters, Rita Evans and Polly Jones; and a grandson, Jeremy Hendley.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, at the Elam Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Farmer officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Barnwell Hendley; a daughter, Kimberly (Phillip) Howell of Big Pine Key, FL; a son, Jimmy (Erika) Hendley of Millen; 3 step-sons, Jason Barnwell of Millen, Travis Evans of Gainesville, and Nicholas Evans of Toccoa; a sister, Jean H. Chester of Millen; a brother, Lloyd Hendley of Nevils; and a granddaughter, Brittany Hendley of Millen.
Active Pallbearers will be Bubba Black, Raymond Clark, Jesse Johnson, Jesse Hendley, Mitchell McGraw, and Jason McGraw.
Honorary Pallbearers will be George Gunn and Evelyn Young.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Elam Cemetery Fund, 5199 Elam Rd., Millen, GA 30442.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
