James "Bubba" Black passed away peacefully within the comforts of his home on April 21, 2025. After several hard fought battles, the Lord granted Bubba mercy.

God's plan for Bubba began at his birth on September 23, 1955. He was known for taking care of the elderly and those with little means. As a young boy his love of the western lifestyle of roping cattle was near and dear to his heart. He established Black Farm where he focused on raising black angus cattle. Before the deterioration of his health, Bubba was an avid outdoorsman. He hunted the forests and fields and fished the ponds and rivers near his home.

Bubba worked for several gas companies and retired after 42 years of service. His work ethic, dependability and knowledge will be greatly missed.

He was predeceased by his parents, James and Ruth Joyner Black; sisters, Jamie Black Wesley and Dale Black DeLaigle; granddaughter, Victoria Black and his lifelong friend Carey Cobb.

He leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Wanda Markovic Black; his children, James "Bubba" (Allene) Black, George (Jessica) Black, Jessica (Hal) Wilson, Jonathan (Kristen) Black, Matt Bazemore, Joshua Bazemore and Megan Bazemore; sisters, Polly (Johnny) Dailey, Paula (David) Adam's and Kathryn Cannon (Roy); 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Heaven's Walk...It's time for me to take the steps that lead to Heaven's Gate and with each step I'll think of you and all the times we've spent. I am going now to paradise where there's only love and no pain and I will wait until the time we see each other again.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 25, 2025 at Millen Cemetery with the Reverend Butch Taylor officiating.
