Mrs. Hildred Murphy Johnson, age 81, died Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Bethany Nursing Center.

She was born in Jenkins County, was retired from Atkinson Candy Company, was a member of the Garfield Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Johnson, parents, Eddie and Sylvetta Murphy; son, Paul Markovcic; 2 brothers, Paul Murphy and Jimmy Murphy; 3 sisters, Isabella Davis, Gladys Bragg, and Eunice Bragg.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Revs. Randy Adams and Richard Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her son, Joseph William "Bunny" Johnson (Brenda) of Millen; a sister, Joyce Burke of Columbus; 3 grandchildren, Tabatha Bennett (Jamie), Monica Broxton (Chris), and Tiffany Adams (Brad) and 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Edward Davis, Rodney Davis, Alan Johnson, Richard Johnson, David Burke, Brent Burke, Tony Cowart, James West, and Bubba Morgan.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
