Obituary

Mr. Gordon Ellis Sasser, age 78, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah from injuries received in an auto accident on March 23.

He was born in Jenkins County, a retired printer for The Millen News, member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, Grand Scribe for Screven Lodge #248 F&AM, and was a Deacon of the Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Revs. Jamie Archer and Dan Zellner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Ruth Waters Sasser; 2 daughters, Theresa Faye Sasser and Debra Jean (Louis) Perryman both of Millen; a son, Wally (Sherrie) Sasser Sr. all of Millen; step-children, Steve (Rebie) McMillan of Millen, Sharon and James McMillan of Sylvania, Kevin and Sharon McMillan of North Augusta, SC, and Sonya Lever of Millen; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Lonesome.

Active Pallbearers will be Wally Sasser Jr., B. J. Sasser, Matt Bazemore, Trey Sasser, Mark Becton, and Bobby Dean Sharpe.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Screven Lodge # 248 F&AM and Sons of the Confederacy.

Memorials may be made to the Oak Hill Baptist Church.

The family will be at the home of Debra and Louis Perryman on Oak Hill Church Rd.

Visitation will be 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
