Farris Poythress
Markovcic
Mar 5, 1936 — Feb 21, 2018
Millen
Farris Poythress Markovcic left her earthly home on February 21, 2018.
She was born on March 5 to Gordon and Mabel Poythress. In 1955, she married John M. Markovcic, the love of her life. God blessed them with thirty-four years of marriage.
Farris was a dedicated caregiver for adults with intellectual disabilities for over twenty years. She had always been dedicated to every member of her family by modeling how to be compassionate and selfless to others who needed help. For eighty-one years, the Lord blessed her with wit, kindness, will power, an independent spirit, and the tenacity to battle through the trials and tribulations of life. Farris had battled cancer three times with the fortitude of a warrior. She always kept a positive attitude in fighting for her life. She showed no signs of illness, weakness, and didn't wallow in self-pity or anger. She emerged from unimaginable hardships with amazing grace, while still comforting and loving her family.
Furthermore, she enjoyed being a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. Farris also loved to read, travel, go to the beach, cook for her family, and watch HGTV. Above all else, she trained her family to honor the Bible, treat people with respect, and find the beauty in all things.
She was preceded in death by her parents for whom she nursed during their battles of cancer. Her heart was also broken with the deaths of her daughter, Heidi M. Johnson and granddaughter Mallory O. Johnson.
Survivors include two daughters: Joylee Lanier, Wanda (Bubba) Black, and a son, Allen Markovcic. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a sister Jackie P. Flanders.
A visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 pm until the funeral time at Oak Hill Baptist Church.
Our Momma's and Granny's funeral will be 3:00 pm on Saturday at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Archer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. So Farris go rest in your heavenly home, and we shall see you again.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society.
Her pallbearers will be her grandsons: Matt Bazemore, Josh Bazemore, Marcus Johnson, Justin Johnson, Cody Johnson, and great grandsons: Blake Johnson, Kade Johnson and Jake Bazemore.
Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Bazemore, Racheal M. Johnson, and Megan Bazemore.
