Elizabeth "Liz" Lee Elmore, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2018, at Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was surrounded in her last days by her family and many friends.

Liz was born on November 24, 1937 in Twin City, Georgia. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. A member of Garfield United Methodist Church, she began her service to the church as President of the Methodist Youth Fellowship, where she met her husband. She taught Sunday School for many years and served on the Official Board for most of her life. She was a certified lay speaker and Chairman of the Pastor-Parish Committee.
She was also an active member of the Woodmen of the World Society for many years.

Liz worked in her home while her children were small and somehow found the time to research and help her husband write papers while he was in graduate school at Georgia Southern.   After seeing her youngest off to school, she worked in Millen Georgia at Coopers, Thomson Company, and Ogeechee Valley Bank.

She began her political career as Judge of the Probate Court of Jenkins County and retired after twenty years of service to her community.

After her retirement, Liz (who was always a voracious reader) wrote a mystery novel which her daughter, Rose, had published as a surprise for her 80 ^th birthday. Her family cherishes the knowledge that her dream was realized and her words will live on in the memories of those who read her book.

Liz lived all her adult life on the family farm with her husband of 62 years and could be found most days surrounded by her "babies", young and old.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Lee, brothers Clifford and Thomas Lee, and sisters Hazel Mincey, Ione Lee and Martha Ruth Newsome.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Howard Elmore; son, Charles Jacob Elmore (Tammy); 3 daughters, Rebecca McLellan (Jim) and Rose Golis (Tom), and daughter/granddaughter Tina Burke (Allen); grandchildren/great children, Danielle (Blake) Gay, C.J. Elmore, Sarah McLellan, Bobby Golis, Preston Golis, Morgan Burke, Zach Burke, Addie Grace Gay, Charleigh Rose Gay, Vince Golis, and Kohen Golis; a brother, Andy Lee; 5 sisters, Betty Dunn, Brenda Sellasteck, Robbie Ann Youngblood, Gail Johnson and Janice Garrard.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Crowe-Fields Funral Home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday atGarfield Methodist Church with Revs. D. R. Parker and Kevin Palmore officiating.
