Martha Elizabeth "Liz" Avret passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Born March 24, 1945, she was a 1963 graduate of Hephzibah High School.  She retired from Bellsouth Telecommunications and then worked for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for several years before moving to Waynesboro, GA to be near her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dozier Lee and Della Parnell Avret; brothers, Randal Avret (Betty), Charles Avret and Walter Avret and nephew, Michael Avret.

She is survived by her sister, Wilma Avret Mims; nieces, Sharon Mathis, Janet Fields (Bob), Susan Lewis (Greg); nephews, Benny Mims (Joely) and Randy Avret (Amy) and several great-nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
