Mr. Edsel W Hodges, age 72, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at University Hospital in Augusta.
He was born in Screven County, a retired welder and pipe fitter, and a member of the Long Branch Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Beasley; stepfather, Roscoe Beasley; father, Joseph Hodges; sister, Hortense Thorton; and brothers, Danny and Robert Hodges.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 noon Friday at the Long Branch Church of God with the Rev. Heath Wingard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Earlene Hodges; son, Eddie (Retha Lynn) Hodges; grandchildren, David and Jessica Hodges; sister, Diane (Sonny) Young; step-brother, Ronnie Beasley; sisters-in-law, Rita Schmitt, Joyce Williams, Sally Hodges, and Jewel Hodges; and several nieces and nephews.
Active Pallbearers will be Jeremy Lindsey, Nicholas Williams, Tommy Lane, Chris Hodges, David Hodges, and Chris Jackson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Lewis Edward Jenkins, Roland Jackson, Spence Britt, Gailyn Thompson, and Bill Mincey.
Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at the church.
